General

e-plastory is the electronic Journal of Historic Polymeric Materials, Plastics Heritage and History.

With this information platform, the Plastics Heritage European Association PHEA together with the German Society for Plastics History (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kunststoffgeschichte dgkg) would like to make accessible the historic significance and importance of Historic Polymeric Materials, Plastics Heritage and History (HIPOMs) to experts and a general public. 

Hipoms comprise:

• The large group of natural polymeric materials (amber, birch pitch, bitumen, natural rubber, gutta-percha, natural fibers, natural lacquers and varnishes, vegetable and animal glues, linoleum, shellac and Bois Durci etc.).
• Chemically modified biopolymers like cellulose nitrate, cellulose acetate and casein-formaldehyde masses.
• Historic synthetic polymeric material like phenolics, urea and other early thermosets, thermoplastics, elastomers, fibers, lacquers, glues etc.

As an uncomplicated, but effective form we have chosen a public domain, free of charge, electronic Open access publication in loose frequency.

e-plastory is a strictly peer-reviewed journal. The submitted articles will be evaluated by referees with expertise in the different areas.

Continuance of publications in e-plastory is guaranteed through the long-time archiving and registration at the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek (German National Library)

Publishing Topics

Contributions reviews, articles, short communications, reports, editorials) in preferably English or German will be published on:

• HIPOMs (natural polymeric materials, forerunner materials, semisynthetic materials, synthetic materials/plastics, polymer science, processing and engineering, applications, companies)
• Plastics Heritage (HIPOMs in art, design, technical and everyday's use, architecture)
• Collecting and archiving HIPOMs
• Conservation of HIPOMs (Polymer Heritage artifacts, technical heritage, material characterisation)
• Conservation with polymers (adhesives, coatings etc.)

Authors have to register, before sumissing. If you are already registered, please log in directly.

Legal Rules

Copyright

• The author keep the full copyright also after publication in e-plastory.
• Among several authors, a mutual agreement has to be achieved before sub mission, (than in the following‚ the author‘ is to be replaced by ‚the authors‘).
• At submission the author delivers the permission for publication of text and pictures also with respect to copyrights of related publications and of all pictures.
• After publication, the picture copyrights remain at the picture owner.
• e-plastory has rights of use insofar as texts and pictures can be published in the given open access form considering the subsequent ‚Further Rules‘.
• After the publication, a revocation of the permission for publication is not possible.

Further Rules

• Copying or the use even of parts of contributions in other electronic or printed media for private or scientific purposes for private purposes is only allowed with permission of the editor.
• For non-private or especially commercial use, it is not allowed to print, to store electronically, to copy, to distribute or to set electronic links with respect to contents entirely or in parts. For exceptions, explicit permissions of the editor and the owner of the text or picture copyright are absolutly necessary.
• These rules are complemented by those for Open Access Media open access magazine: Creative Commons, naming, no commercial use, no editing.
• Please cite according to this example:

• Apart from that, the non-liability and the General Rules according to the dgkg are valid.
